Wedding Dress & Bridal Gowns Designer | Lotus Threads

Let’s start From the beginning

What is your design history, how did you get involved in Bridal?

I began to work in fashion while in college. After 20 years of working in several facets of the industry I unexpectedly evolved into a designer. I attended F.I.T in NYC, for production management. I felt it was important to understand the process in which garments are made. There is a lot of engineering that takes place in deciding what materials are used in making a garment. From first thought to the last stitch needs to be planned in order achieve the end goal. I spent a lot of time researching and understanding how fabrics work on the body, regardless of age or size. My experience gave me the knowledge of what cut, and materials create the best possible fit.

The inspiration

"I am still amazed at the pride in making a gown"

I am an old soul for sure. I love old classic Hollywood glamour. I am fascinated with the attention to detail and construction of dresses in previous eras. I am still amazed at the pride in making a gown before fast fashion made many of the important details obsolete. The very details that today designers such as myself still look to for inspiration.

For artwork I go to old history books and works of art for inspiration. Most of the times I do not exactly see what I am looking to design, but something about an old painting, photo, movie, or book I am reading takes me to the setting and the pieces come together. I love the energy I feel when I can mentally take myself to a place I have never been. I feel the same way when I am working with a bride. I look to connect to her story and pay close attention to the energy she allows me to synchronize with, and there is when the gown is created.

The best part of the job

I am truly honored to be part of someone’s journey into celebrating an important part of their life. Having a place in their special day, where everybody sees the bride in a gown that enhances her beauty and makes her feel glamorous beyond expectation. That is the true work of a designer. When you can connect with someone´s vision and make them see a part of themselves that they didn´t know existed.

"That connection is where a design becomes art. That is what I love about being a Bridal Gown Designer."
